Why The US Credit Rating Was Cut And What It Means: Quick Take

Americans generally expect to be No. 1 at everything. So the downgrade of the country’s credit rating for only the second time ever rattled the country’s pride and the global financial system. The US was stripped of its top-tier sovereign credit rating by Fitch Ratings on Aug. Both markdowns were spurred by bitter standoffs over the nation’s borrowing.

NYC’s Real Estate Market Has We Work’s Survival In ‘Substantial Doubt’

The office space-sharing company We Work said they have "substantial doubt" they can stay in business over the next 12 months.

In a quarterly earnings report, the company interim CEO David Tolley said they are suffering along with the entire commercial real estate industry.

Wall Street Ticks Higher After Inflation Report

Stocks are ticking higher as Thursday’s shaky day of trading comes toward a close following the latest update on inflation across the U.S.

The S&P 500 was 0.3% higher with about an hour remaining in trading. It’s on pace for just its second winning day in the last eight, but it had been up as much as 1.3% earlier in the day before swinging between gains and losses.
