US Dollar Surges

The US dollar surged to its highest level in two decades as investors ramped up bets that aggressive interest rate rises from the Federal Reserve will leave other big central banks trailing far in its wake. The immediate catalyst for the move came from the Bank of Japan who is keeping a looser monetary policy by keeping bond yields at zero. (Full Story)

Mortgage Rates Pause Their rapid Ascent For Now

The average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage edged down to 5.10% from 5.11% last week, according to Freddie Mac. Mortgage rates have jumped over 2 percentage points since the beginning of 2022 on expected interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve to tame runaway inflation. (Full Story)
