Big deal: $1.75B Building Sale Sets Pandemic-era Record for NYC
The slated price tag for these six Upper East Side buildings is higher than any in New York since pre-pandemic.
The deal notches a new record for pandemic-era purchases of New York multifamily portfolio properties. It also indicates that despite rising inflation, fears of a recession and the ongoing crypto crash demand for rental real estate is still strong in the city. (Full Story)

Institutional Investors
As of 2011, no single investor in the U.S. owned more than 1,000 homes. As of Oct 2021, just five companies own a collective 280,637 homes, adding 76,325 homes to their portfolios between March 2018 and October 2021. When/if institutional investors stop buying single family homes, we could see a spike in more affordable home options for first time home buyers. ( Full Story)
