The Manhattan residential real estate market performed strongly in Q1 2025, with sales rising 13.2% YoY. Despite ongoing economic uncertainty, rising demand was driven by confidence in property as a secure asset. The luxury sector had a remarkable resurgence, with sales of properties priced at $5 million and above climbing 49.2% YoY - the best first quarter in 6 years. (

Sell-Off Deepens

After announcing "Liberation Day", major U.S. stock indexes posted their steepest weekly declines since March 2020 as the U.S. imposed tariffs and some key trading partners retaliated, triggering major sell-offs. The S&P 500 finished down more than 9% overall and 17% below the record high it set just six weeks earlier. The NASDAQ and Dow dropped around 10% and 8%, respectively. (Read More)

Tariffs, Bears, Inflation, and Depreciation

Jerome Powell said on Friday that tariffs introduced over the course of the week risk fueling higher inflation than initially expected. Tariff increases and the resulting economic impact will both be “significantly larger than expected.” The dollar has depreciated 5% YoY, and the yield of the 10-year U.S. Treasury briefly fell below the 4.00% level.
