U.S. Stocks End Higher Friday, With S&P 500 and Nasdaq Closing at Records

The Nasdaq Composite

rose to an all-time high Friday, surpassing its 2021 record.

The S&P 500 added 0.80% to 5,137 for its first close above the 5,100 threshold.

Chipmaking giant Nvidia

, which has led the tech rally by surging more than 260% over the last 12 months, was up another 4% Friday.

Powell likely to 'stick to script' next week

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell testifies next week before House and Senate committees, a semiannual exercise. While Powell is likely to be pressed about the direction of the monetary policy, he will stick to his script, urging patience on the rate cutting front as policymakers wait for more data to confirm that inflation is falling sustainably toward their 2.0% target.
