Key US Inflation Metric To Ease As Focus Shifts To Jobs Market
The Federal Reserve’s preferred gauge of underlying inflation, the personal consumption expenditures price index excluding food and energy, rose by 0.2% in August, down from 0.3% in July. On an annual basis, the core inflation measure held steady at a still-elevated 2.9%. This slower pace of inflation growth is providing the Fed some room to focus.
