It seems every week is a tough news week, but this last week in particular was especially tough. A war is now raging in the Middle East - again - and we will all be affected by its long lasting impacts.
On our weekly team call, we all acknowledged the devastation being unleashed and paid homage to the people affected. We also took into account our combined role and responsibility in this. Further, we discussed what we all were doing to take care of ourselves, our friends, our family, and our neighbors. A few things that we all agreed help during these dark days:
Movement: creating time to be active in your body to release the built up tension and cortisol.
Breaks: the constant news cycle can suck you in an never let you go if you let it.
Communication: speaking with your people in good times and bad can dispel negative thoughts and bring you closer to people you care about.
Self Care: joy can be an act of resistance - doing things for yourself and enjoying your life no matter what is one thing no one else has the power to take away.
It was a great acknowledgement and reminded us how fortunate we are to be on a team that supports each other especially when things get tough.
We are stronger for it.
We hope you are practicing whatever form of self care you need during these times and if you have anyone that may be struggling or affected, this is the moment to reach out and let them know you are thinking about them.
