| Household Wealth Grew to $570 trillion in 2025, a n increase of 7.3% from 2024. That was a faster rise than the 5.9% average recorded since 2000, and was unusual in other respects. For much of this century, the rise in household wealth has been largely driven by real estate, since many households own houses. Stock Market & Inflation News The S&P 500 and the Dow finished fractionally lower for the week and the NASDAQ dropped more than 2%. Stocks alternated between gains and losses throughout the week, extending a pattern that dates to early June, when the S&P 500 and NASDAQ set record highs. | New NYC Condo Financing Rules: What Buyers Need to Know Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are intro-ducing new condominium lending stand-ards aimed at improving the financial health and stability of condos. The exp-ectation is that a building will allocate a 10% line item for reserves on their budget. Come 2027, it will increase to 15% & may increase from there. As a result, buyers may be asked for additional condo documentation during the loan process. (More) |
Mortgage Rates Due to Increase Just as things were improving, the 10-Year Treasury soared to 4.7%, their highest level since January 2025. Bond investors influence those yields via expectations around factors like inflation. This yield is directly tied to mortgage rates. The national average mortgage rate is currently around 6.58% for a 30-year fixed loan, but with the 10-Year Treasury numbers increasing, expect that number to rise. (More) | |
