Brooklyn Q4 Luxury Report

Last quarter Brooklyn faced the challenge of an inventory shortage head-on, enduring a decrease of 14.6% YoY and 32.1% QoQ dropping below 3,000 active properties for the first time since 2014. Accordingly, prices were generally up across the borough for the last asking price, climbing 5.0% and 10.9% in average and median price, respectively. Contracts fell 3.7% YoY and 3.5% QoQ, aligning with pre-2020 trends. (Full Report)

S&P 500 Closes Lower After Central Bankers Push Back Against Rate Cuts

The tug of war between central bankers and investors continues.

Fresh caution from policy makers on how quickly rates might ease weighed on markets this week. Stocks ended lower, extending the pullback that followed the “everything rally” of late 2023. Spirit Airlines' stock was among the biggest movers, tumbling more than 22% after almost halving Tuesday.

Floating Pool Shaped Like a Plus Sign Will Open in the East River in 2025

Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams announced late last week that after a decade of talks, the floating pool shaped like a plus sign will open to the public in 2025. Funding-wise, the project will benefit from both existing grants (the state has pledged $12 million already) and a $4 million backing by the city, as announced by Mayor Eric Adams. (Read More)
