August 2025 Market Overview

The next three months could bring meaningful shifts to the market. The market is betting the Fed is likely to lower rates, though mortgage rates may only dip slightly. Tariffs, rising construction costs, and possible tax breaks are reshaping the economic landscape. In NYC, the upcoming mayoral race adds political uncertainty, especially around housing policy. Market Rebound

The NASDAQ surged 3.9% for the week and eclipsed a record high, regaining ground lost in a sell-off the previous week. The S&P 500 and the Dow added 2.4% and 1.4%, respectively, with the former index finishing at 6,389.5—less than a point below its record set less than two weeks earlier. The Magnificent 7 stocks were forecast to report average growth of 25.7%. (Full Story)

Inflation Remains Persistent

The core Consumer Price Index (CPI), which excludes volatile food and energy prices, held steady around 3.02% year-over-year in early August. The overall CPI was about 2.86% annualized. Tariff-driven costs and moderate energy price increases are contributing to this inflation persistence. Wall Street is bracing for a pullback next week. (Read More)

Jobs Report

Last week, Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner Erika McEntarfer reported the jobs numbers as she has routinely done since she took the position. The number reported by the BLS for July was 73,000 - significantly less than the original estimates. Previous months were also amended to reflect updated data. The president has since fired McEntarfer for reporting this data as these numbers point to an accurate but weaker economy than hoped for. (Full Story)

Ramzis' Wedding Pt 2

When we sent out last week's MBM, we were in the thick of Ramzis' wedding and had only just touched the surface of the celebrations that followed.

The traditions of a Bulgarian wedding were on full display - family, dancing, attire, fire, friends, and a multi-day feast. Also on display were a myriad of pyrotechnics, incredible visuals, and lots of love.

It was an incredible experience we won't soon forget. Thank you Ramzis for sharing your special day with us and hosting such a magical wedding experience. It may just be the best wedding we've ever been to.

Congrats to you and Aifer! You deserve all the happiness and success in the world.
