What Living in New York City is Like 5 Years After the Pandemic

Empty schools. Shuttered stores. Wide-spread job losses. This

was the grim reality taking hold for New Yorkers five years ago, as the Covid-19 pandemic brought the largest US city to a standstill. Since 2019, wages have increased 12%, 12%, jobs are up 3.2%, but quality of life still hasn't fully rebounded.

Another Setback in the Stock Market

The S&P 500 joined the NASDAQ in correction territory on Thursday, falling 10% below its record high reached three weeks earlier. While the S&P 500 recouped some of its losses with a 2.1% surge on Friday, it ended the week with an overall decline of about 2.2%. its fourth negative weekly result in a row.

February Home Resales Jump More Than Expected

The inventory of homes listed at the end of February is up 17% from a year ago, and the median sale price of a house is up 3.8% from a year ago, to $398,400. The average 30-year fixed-rate mort-gage was little changed at 6.67%, and has stayed under 7% for nine straight weeks. And last week, The Fed said rates will hold steady. (Full Story)
