The Fed vs Inflation
The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 0.50 percentage point to curb inflation and predicts a higher peak.
Some economists reckoned the Fed would say “additional increases” would be needed, signaling the Fed is close to winding down the hiking cycle. It estimates it will cut the rate to 4.1% by the end of 2024 to support an economy likely to be weak-ened by the rate increases. (Full Story)

US Inflation Slowed Significantly In Nov.
A decline in US prices for gas and used cars in November led to a marked slowdown in inflation, with prices for all goods and services rising just 0.1% from the prior month.
Piped gas for utilities fell by 3.5%, used cars fell by 2.9%, and gasoline fell by 2%. Additionally, medical services fell by 0.7% and electricity fell by 0.2%, offset by increases for items such as shelter and food.
