IRS Raised Tax Brackets

The Internal Revenue Service has raised tax brackets and the standard deduction by about 7% for 2023 as the soaring cost of food, energy and housing continues to batter Americans.

That’s the largest increase to the standard deduction since the tax system was first indexed to inflation in 1985, and will reduce the amount of income subject to taxes for most people.

Stocks Finish With Second Straight Loss As Treasury Yields Grind Higher

After falling in premarket trade in reaction to a jump in U.S. Treasury yields, stocks recovered some ground as investors cheered stronger than expected quarterly earnings, but the 10-year yield BX:TMUBMUSD10Y rose to 4.153%, the highest level since July 2008, dragging stocks lower again.

New York State Housing Market Continues To Slow As Interest Rates Rise

Closed sales dipped 12.6% from 13,797 units in Sept 2021 to just 12,057 homes last month, marking a 12.6% decline. Pending sales fell 11.2% from 12,686 homes last Sept to 11,269 homes in Sept 2022. New listings of homes also slowed from 16,656 listings in Sept 2021 to 14,461 in Sept 2022. This marks a 13.2% YOY decrease. Good thing this team makes our own market! (Full Story)
