FED Cuts Rates

Last week, The FED approved a quarter-point (0.25) interest rate cut and is eyeing two more by the end of the year. What does that mean for mortgage rates? We'll have to wait and see. The 10 and 30 year treasure bonds rose slightly this week and there is no guarantee that the FED rates and mortgage rates will move in lockstep. (Full Story)

Markets Hit Record Highs

After the Federal Reserve delivered a widely anticipated rate cut of 25 basis points, major stock indexes surged. The blue-chip S&P 500 and tech-heavy Nasdaq are up 14% and 17%, respectively, this year reflecting renewed investor optimism. Fed Chair Jerome Powell indicated further cuts would be gradual and data-dependent. (Read More)

Investing In NYC: The ROI

Home prices have more than doubled in 24 New York City neighborhoods over the past decade, according to Property Shark data. Two Bridges in Manhattan saw a 288% increase, driven by luxury condominium construction and “climate gentrification.” Other areas like Breezy Point and Hamilton Beach in Queens and Red Hook in Brooklyn also posted gains above 150%. NYC to See Most Development Rights Traded in 10 Years

54 transfers of development rights have occurred in New York City as of Aug. 1. That means the city is likely to see 92 such transfers which include Zoning Lot Development Agreements, special district transfers and landmark development rights transfers for the full year. This is the highest amount since 2016. (Full Story)

US Inflation Rises 2.9% Year-Over-Year

U.S. inflation rose by 2.9 percent in August, the fastest annual pace in 2025, while core inflation (excluding volatile items) held at 3.1 percent. The data prompted the Federal Reserve to remain cautious, weighing potential rate cuts against economic risks from tariffs and persistent price increases. (Read More)
